TITLE OF POSITION: Bookkeeper
STATUS: 3-5 hours per week
WORK HOURS: Flexible
DUTIES:
This position will work closely with the Executive Director to manage the business operations of the organization, including accounting, compliance with all state and federal regulations, and grant and fundraising management. This position is responsible for:
§ Prepare all required general journal entries
§ Pay bills and invoices in a timely manner
§ Maintain the chart of accounts and class codes
§ Record cash receipts and make bank deposits
§ Prepare Payment Reimbursement Requests
§ Conduct periodic reconciliations of all accounts to insure accuracy
§ Conduct a monthly reconciliation of accounts and prepare monthly reports
§ Analyze general ledger and fixed asset data
§ Maintain an orderly accounting filing system
§ Communicate with External CPA, as necessary
§ Work independently based on company policy and precedents
REQUIREMENTS AND QUALIFICATIONS:
Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college or university preferred, not required. One to three years experience in accounting, bookkeeping, or business operations with non-profit organizations is highly desirable. Equivalent combinations of education and experience may be considered. Skill requirements include knowledge of:
§ Bookkeeping and Fund Accounting
§ Accounting techniques, procedures, & policies
§ Maintaining account balances and reporting on their status
§ 3rd Party Payroll Service Providers
§ Internal Controls and nonprofit financial policies
§ Microsoft 2010 Word and Excel
§ Quickbooks Accounting Software
